Greek tragedies and comedies, history seminar, and more!

Alison Hoffman, teacher for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, created a project for her students which involved Greek tragedy or comedy.

Just recently Alison Hoffman, 6th, 7th, 8th grade teacher for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Asbury Park created a project for her students which involved them creating their own Greek tragedy or comedy. Before creating their play, she explained that during the time of Ancient Greece plays were performed to please the crowds. Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides were famous playwrights during this time. After explaining the importance, the students were given the opportunity to create their own Greek tragedy or comedy. Once they created their play, the students put on a great performance. In addition, students created masks for their plays to enhance their act.

Furthermore, Mr. Wronko had his students create a three minute speech on who they thought would belong in the History World Of Fame. Some of the candidates the students spoke about were King Tut, Cleopatra, Alexander The Great, King Leonidas, William Shakespeare, and Confucius. The purpose of the assignment was to help students with their presentation and public speaking skills. The three minute speeches created a nice history seminar.

Finally, in the picture above, those were the student projects based on the two assignments spoken about in the post. An additional project in the picture was an Aztec mask.
