Jameer Bullard, a junior who had played for Woodrow Wilson the last three years, had been shot and killed in Camden early Saturday morning.

Bullard, a running back/linebacker, was a college prospect. According to yahoosports, he had an offer from Temple and interest from Rutgers and Minnesota.

Bullard coach, Brown, told nj.com it’s a tough and emotional time. He said the promising football star was headed to the Nike Invitational.

“He had an opportunity to play at the next level. His whole life he’s been a good player. He was a big kid, was playing in the unilimited division since he was 10 or 11. He had a lot of talent.”

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said police were called out around  12:25 a.m. for reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Bullard on the 1200 block of Mechanic Street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Cooper Hospital and pronounced dead around 1:11 a.m.

Police are searching for the person or people responsible.

Bullard’s shooting comes one week after Paterson basketball star Armoni Sexton was killed in a drive-by shooting.
