Neptune, NJ – On June 16th, The Neptune Township Police Chief met with the citizens of Neptune Township to discuss problems in the community. Neptune Police Chief Adams embraced the concerns of the citizens and actively assured the citizens that he was behind them all the way. The chief conveyed that they were doing the best they can to rid crime from the community. With major concerns surrounding the recent violence, Chief Adams mentioned the 600 cameras around the township assuring the police department is taking strides to decrease crime. He also emphasized the importance of having public support between the police and the people that live in the community.
People in the community expressed their concerns about retaliation on the part of the criminals. The police assured the citizens that you are able to call and provide information and you will not have to say your name.
The citizens were also concerned with how the young people wear their pants hanging down. They talked about ways of doing away with such undesirable expressible acts without being racially targeted. The issue of racial profiling in a community who surely will be targeted leaves the township and the community begging for answers. Do we ticket people? What is the answer? How do we deal with the distrust of the police force that is known to have their share of problems when it comes to race issues? The police Chief Adams has his work cut out for him but with his dedication to see that all are treated fairly will guide him to get the job done. But he knows that nothing can be done with out the community support.
