The setting of the play takes place in Jacksons Shack Barbershop a cluttered business in the inner city where there are four chairs. In the barbershop there is one whole section of the wall covered with Jet Magazine Beauty of the week Photos. The play takes the audience on a roller coaster ride through the 70s where stories are told in the shop that brings about joy, laughter, love and sorrow.

The “Beauty Of The Week” written and directed by playwright Mark A. Henderson and direct by Darrell Willis is a staged reading presented by “PLAYWRIGHTS ON THE RISE”. Mark describes this play as a “poignant look back at the oh so soulful 70s”. Mark is a 20 year veteran of theater arts and is the Associate Artistic Director of the Dunbar Repertory Company in Red Bank NJ.

Unheard Voices is a magazine that gives a sense of unity to all people whether they are black, white, orange, red or green. Everybody deserves a voice! Remember our voice is your voice and your voice is ours! Speak Up and Be Heard! Remember never be scared to voice your opinion!
